Acupuncture needles are only a little thicker than a human hair and can barely be felt upon entering the skin.
Each one comes individually pre-packaged in a sterile wrapper and is disposed of after use, so there is no risk of infection. After insertion you may feel a sensation of warmth, heaviness, or tingling, but there should be no pain. Most patients find acupuncture very relaxing and even fall asleep during treatment.
