How Does Acupuncture Feel?

I used to believe that acupuncture was only helpful for minor problems. I thought I needed an M.D. for the "big stuff". Over the many years that I have been working with Monica, I have discovered that I no longer need an M.D. at all. Monica is completely able to handle everything, even infections which I believed could only be cured by antibiotics. I visit her every month to maintain my health. Since we handle health problems early, they do not escalate. There is no "big stuff" anymore. This is an entirely new and superior approach to health, which I recommend for everyone.

After a painful fall a few years ago, I acquired back issues. On top of that, I tried for a few years to conceive. I’ve tried many different things to help with both issues to no avail. I knew I needed a change and so I expanded my research and found Monica. Whenever I meet with Monica, she always spends time to discuss how I am and, more importantly, how she will be treating me and why. Monica’s attentiveness, along with the confidence I’ve gained from her knowledge and skills, has allowed me to relax and my treatments to become effective. Thanks Monica! I'm happy to say that after a month and a half of treatment, I found out I’m pregnant and feel blessed with the path that has lead me to this place. I cannot wait to meet my baby soon!

I have always had irregular periods and was concerned about the possibility of ever getting pregnant when the time came in my life that I wanted to start a family. I asked each new doctor I saw throughout my late teens and 20's and they all shrugged off my concern, didn't give a good answer, and didn't seem to care. This was very upsetting! So when my husband and I decided it was time to try getting pregnant, I knew that Western medicine was going to be the last resort. My husband had previously seen Monica for back pain and I had heard that acupuncture is good for infertility, so we decided to give it a try and I made an appointment to see her. Monica was so caring and took the time to explain what she was doing since this was all so new to me. I really looked forward to my appointments and enjoyed the time to relax. She suggested two kinds of Chinese herbs that I took at different times during my cycles. I was already charting my temperatures and could see a noticable difference after starting the herbs! After 3 months of acupuncture treatments and herbs, my cycles became regular. Four months later, I'm pregnant!!

My husband and I had been trying to conceive for over a year. When we first moved to Seattle last fall, I found the Downtown Seattle Acupuncture website and read about the benefits of acupuncture for fertility. I went to see Monica for about a month of treatment, and then I got pregnant! It happened fairly quickly. Thank you so much Monica!

I had a spine fusion surgery in January 2012. The operation was satisfactory in terms of off-setting stenosis, but not so much for alleviating back and hip pain, unfortunately.  I cannot stand still for more than one hour without experiencing back pain. I finally sought help from Monica last fall… I am so glad I did! The intensity of the pain has decreased tremendously for as long as I see Monica every two-to- three weeks. When the interval gets longer, I start noticing the pain more frequently and intensely. One thing people have to keep in mind, though, is that acupuncture is not a magic or a quick fix to whatever the symptoms you have.  It takes time for your body to undergo biological changes. But once it starts happening, you do feel as if it is magic!

She is also very confident with her skills and most importantly, she cares about what she does. I came through Seattle with the national tour of "Wicked" and immediately had a reaction to the climate change, developing bronchitis and acid reflux, which I have never suffered as a singer before. After going to more than one traditional ENTs and getting all kinds of prescription medication that actually made me feel worse, I turned to Monica, hoping that she could help me get back in the show. Acupuncture cured me when traditional medicine was stumped!

I came to be treated by Monica when I had a throat infection that wouldn't go away. My MD had no idea why my throat was coated with a white film, and prescribed a "catch-all" super-antibiotic. This made my symptoms worse, and the infection dragged on for weeks. After my first acupuncture treatment, my throat began improving in two days. My throat was fine within two and a half weeks. I continued getting monthly treatments because I noticed that the PMS symptoms I'd had all my life vastly improved when I was treated before my period. I highly recommend acupuncture for everyone!

I recently had a baby and struggled with producing enough milk. I went to see Monica in hopes that acupuncture would be the solution to this most stressful situation. After each acupuncture treatment my breasts were immediately filled with milk. With continued treatment my milk supply has vastly increased and I am not struggling with milk production anymore.

I suffered a rotator cuff impingement, and physical therapy wasn't helping -- in
fact, it seemed to make it worse. I decided to try acupuncture, and the results were
really surprising. After 3 treatments, I recovered movement in my shoulder, and the
pain greatly decreased. Six treatments later, my shoulder feels fantastic, and it functions
normally again. It's been a great way to heal and recover.
