Biceps Tendonitis or Tear/Upper Arm Pain

The biceps is a muscle on the front part of the upper arm. The biceps is attached to the arm bones by tough connective tissues called tendons. The tendons that connect the biceps muscle to the shoulder joint in two places are called the proximal biceps tendons. The tendon that attaches the biceps muscle to the forearm bones is called the distal biceps tendon. Repeated use of the biceps or shoulder problems can irritate the biceps tendons. Pain in the shoulder and arm is the main symptom.

Whether the biceps tendon is just inflamed and irritated or if it is torn, acupuncture treatments will help to reduce the resulting arm pain and inflammation and also help the tendon to heal by increasing the flow of blood and chi (energy) to the arm and shoulder region.  Acupuncture can also reduce your need to manage the pain with anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen.
