Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is comprised of a variety of symptoms resulting from compression of the median nerve in the wrist at the base of the palm.  It affects the hand, wrist, and occasionally the entire upper extremity.  Symptoms include numbness at night, tingling, or pain in the fingers (especially the thumb, index, and long fingers).  The patient also may begin to experience weakness and may drop objects, losing their ability to grip things.  Many things can contribute to the development of CTS, but repetitive motion like typing on a keyboard is often a major factor.

Acupuncture treatments can diminish the symptoms of CTS including numbness, tingling, inflammation and pain.  Acupuncture can also help to restore diminished strength and range of motion due to carpal tunnel syndrome thereby helping the patient to regain normal use and function of the hand and forearm.
